My Journalism Resume

December 7, 2008 - Leave a Response

I may not be the most experienced college journalist in multimedia, but I am willing to learn and do so fast.

I have worked with Audacity, Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. I have shot and edited video and feel comfortable doing so. I have worked alongside videographers for multimedia stories and really enjoyed the process. As a naturally curious person, I also feel comfortable taking a handheld camcorder and shooting film to use for video and print stories.

I will be the Assistant Managing Editor next semester (Spring 2009) of the Oklahoma Daily. My primary responsibilities will be editing the news stories for the next day’s paper every evening and helping the Managing Editor assign stories. I will also help reporters writer clearer, concise stories, find a focus for their story and make sure all questions are answered.

My resume is below, please e-mail me for references, my telephone number and address; I do not feel comfortable sharing this information on the Internet.

Short autobiography

September 2, 2008 - Leave a Response

My name is Jamie Hughes. I am a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma.

I am in my second semester of writing for the Oklahoma Daily. Last semester I was an intern with the Arts and Entertainment desk. I am currently covering the City of Norman for the News desk.

I completed a six week internship at the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, SD this summer and covered the DNC for an online news source, RezNet (stories can be found at www.reznetnews.org, argusleader.com and oudaily.com).

I was also a student at the American Indian Journalism Institute this summer, a Freedom Forum program.

I enjoy taking photos and have taken a few for the Daily as well as RezNet. I hope to advance my skills and learn more about video.

Please contact me at jahughes@ou.edu with any questions.
